Danse Away recorded his first track success on his eleventh attempt, as he eased to victory in the Lisronagh Handicap Hurdle.

Successful in a point-to-point back in February of 2017, the TJ Nagle trained six-year-old was second to Sir Carno at Punchestown in January.

He since finished fifth on his two starts since, and he was fitted with cheekpieces for the first time today, going off the 11/4 second favourite with Danny Mullins in the saddle.

Prominent throughout, the Ailish Glynn owned victor improved to lead from five out, and travelled best from before the second last, keeping on strongly from there to score easily by thirteen lengths. Rock On Barney who was returned the 5/2 favourite (from 4s on-course), finished second under Evan Daly for Gerry Lynch, while Fourina (10/1) was three and three parts of a length back in third, with Ricky Doyle aboard for Mark Fahey.

The winning trainer said afterwards on Attheraces: "He had good point-to-point form, but not good track form and he had to win that today really.

"We'll use it (the ground) as an excuse for his Gowran run anyway, but Danny thought his run in Gowran would be good enough to win today.

"He has been disappointing but we might get another one with him. He might go to Cork now on Thursday."
