Move To Strike (a son of Ballylinch Stud's Lawman) showed plenty with the future in mind when third behind Aidan O'Brien's hot-pot, Forester, at Leopardstown, and he duly delivered as an odds-on favourite should in the opening Alfred Nobel E.B.F. Maiden at the Curragh.
The well-supported 4/6 'jolly' (marginal odds against in places this morning) led under two furlongs out and he was soon in command on the way to accounting for Slope by no less than nine lengths. A gamble on Sin Miedo (at least 8s this morning into 4s) went astray as the front-runner eventually faded into sixth.
With the weather inclement, winning trainer and breeder Jim Bolger was never likely to 'dilly-dally' with representatives of the press in the aftermath but he did say: "He was impressive and he came on from his run at Leopardstown. We'll play it by ear with him now." (TW & EM)
