Moskova prevails under determined Ruby

Wed 18th Nov 2009, 15:07

Moskova looked sure to have lost her chance of justifying favouritism when she got the fourth last fence badly wrong in the European Breeders Fund T.A. Morris Memorial Mares Chase but Ruby Walsh's persistence paid off as he got the grey up on the run-in to see off two other Co. Wexford trained mares, Hello Kitty and Here Comes Sally

Successful trainer, Paul Nolan was understandably delighted in the aftermath and he said: "Super Ruby! After the mistake I thought she'd find it very difficult because we were worried about her fitness (her first outing for 204 days). She battled well to the line though and she is very tough. She could go back over hurdles now but she owes nobody anything at this stage and it is great for her owner, Robert Hennelly.

"He is a Mayo man and he could have sent her off to the breeding sheds so this is just reward for putting her back in training."

Moskova was gaining her third Grade 3 win and it is testament to how testing the ground was that only five of the eleven strong field completed. Keys Pride made a bad mistake and unseated rider five out and the other main one in the betting, Bohemian Lass pulled up before the last.

Ruby Walsh was completing a double having earlier scored on Fionnegas
