An Froach Mor galloped his rivals into submission to run out an easy winner of the rated novice chase at Navan this afternoon.

The Ross O'Sullivan-trained gelding was soon prominent in the two-and-a-half mile contest and led heading into the back straight under Robbie Power.

He had his rivals on the stretch before the second last fence and stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post an impressive 11-length winning margin over Brosna George who got up close home for second ahead of Diamond Turf

The 3/1 winner had collided with 15/8 favourite La Tektor at the first fence which saw the market leader crash out.

An Froach Mor had been second to Debuchet on his chase debut at Fairyhouse last month. The six-year-old Mahler gelding had also won a maiden hurdle at Wexford back in March.

O'Sullivan, who recently celebrated the arrival of a baby girl with wife Katie (Walsh), said:-

“He’s a horse we liked a lot and I was very nervous coming here today.

“He’d a lovely run the last day behind Debuchet for his first run over fences and it was always the plan to come here.

“I think he’s going to be a lovely staying chaser. Where he’ll climb to I don’t know but Katie has ridden him in all his work and she absolutely loves him.

“He loves jumping fences and is 17 hands. He’s a real three-mile chaser and has a lovely attitude.

“There is novice handicap in Naas, a 0-130 if he lets me in there, that he could go for in the middle of January.”
