The remarkable success-rate of front-runners at Navan today continued in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden when the Peter Cluskey trained Misty Millie routed her rivals, having made all under Colin Keane.
Keane, who was completing a double, quickly moved Misty Millie (by Dylan Thomas and out of a Sadler's Wells mare) to the front but such was the manner of her easy success, her position in-running was almost irrelevant, as she recorded a thoroughly impressive 14 lengths win.
Odds-on favourite (4/5) Creme De La was withdrawn having refused to load, with a Rule 4 deduction of 55 cent on all bets, reducing Misty Millie's starting price of 14/1 to 6.3/1.
Following the race, Co Dublin based Cluskey stated “she put up a good performance in a maiden at Gowran Park last October and I thought it looked a decent enough maiden.
"I was a bit dubious of the ground but took a chance. I didn't think she would do that.
"I always thought she had a bit, and I'd say a mile to a mile and a half is her trip. Colin said she enjoyed that ground."
Misty Millie's front-running win was following on from other all-the-way winners Charlies Missile Pretty Perfect Spader and Lily's Rainbow while the other winner on the card 20/1 shot Hyzenthlay raced very close to the pace before striking for home two furlongs out.
