The early birds were quick to snap up prices on Mimicking today and Jim Bolger's Godolphin filly got the job done in the five furlong maiden for two-year-olds at the Curragh.

The daughter of Invincible Spirit went off the 2/1 favourite, but had to race widest of all under Kevin Manning as she was drawn in stall one.

From second a furlong and a half out, she closed onand passed stablemate Ard San Aer at the one pole and quickened up well for a length and three quarter success.

Ard San Aer with Ronan Whelan in the saddle took second at 14/1, while Hoppala switched right from behind horse sand kept on for third.

Kevin Manning said: "She has done it well. She had an outside draw into a headwind but I couldn't afford to be dropping in. They were all abreast across the track. She's done it the hard way.

"She picked up when she met the rising ground. I'd be very pleased with her. The ground is riding dead."

Jim Bolger added: "Kevin was very happy with her. She could go for the Marble Hill and maybe Ascot. She's a good-type filly and will be able to step up in trip.

"She was a little bit green but was on her own out there, and I thought she did it well from the stall she was in. She closed it out well.

"The second is speedy and hopefully he has a future as well."
