Outing number one for Andrew McNamara off a 220 day break yielded a win for Lomi's Law in division two of the Kilkenny Senior Hurlers Race Day June 24th Handicap at Gowran.
Fellow Limerick man Emmet McNamara was aboard the Lawman mare for the Mullingar-based winning stable, and he got the 10/1 shot home in front by a length and a quarter from favourite Queluz
The pair drew six and a half lengths clear of the bronze medalist, Ringo Kid
"She's been going well at home and I thought she would go well. I have her about two months and that's my first winner on the Flat," explained McNamara.
"She's in again at Leopardstown on Friday and could go there. She's a nice genuine filly, and hopefully there is another day in her."
The Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the straight involving Mistiness ridden by R.P. Downey, Snap Click ridden by K.J. Manning, and Ringo Kid (GB), ridden by K.J. Leonard, where it appeared Snap Click received interference on the inner.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found K.J. Leonard in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his previous record into account suspended him for three race days and further cautioned him as to the accuracy of his evidence at future enquiries.
