Granny Biddy brought up a Cork double for Donie McInerney with a decisive victory in the two mile three handicap hurdle at Cork.

She closed right up on clear leader Rory O'Moore to take a narrow lead at the last flight (normal second last).

On the long run-in, because the jockeys were flagged past the final hurdle, McInerney could afford a look around his shoulder before pushing out the 3/1 favourite to win by five lengths. Hollow Tree could make no impression on the run-in and finished second at 10/3. Ri An Rian took third at 8/1, beaten eight and a half lengths by the winner.

Trainer Mick Winters said: "She wants soft but I thought the ground was a on the good side for her today and she was also showing signs of coming into season today.

"Her owner Tom McNulty is from Mayo and is going back to America on November 8 but will come back in February when the ground is again right for the mare to run."
