Tony Martin saddled a winner at Fairyhouse for the second successive day as White Arm gained a deserved win in the Fred Kenny Lifetime Service To Racing Handicap Chase.

The J P McManus-owned eight-year-old gelding travelled well to head the front-running He Rock’s after the penultimate fence and stayed on strongly under Jack Kennedy.

The well-backed 9/2 joint favourite had five lengths to spare over that rival at the line, with Bothair Clei another 11 lengths away in third. State Of Origin completed the places another length back in fourth.

Martin, on the mark here yesterday with Tudor City, said, “It’s brilliant to have a winner for that man (J P McManus). He’s been threatening to do that for a while. Maybe the better ground helped, and you would have to say it did the way he won there.

“He’s been knocking on the door and today it has all worked out well. It’s nice to get a few winners here after a quiet spell.”
