Spillane's Tower completed a quick double for JP McManus, as he claimed the Cavan Developments Supporting Kill GAA Maiden Hurdle.

Beaten just a head into second at Wexford in October, the Jimmy Mangan trained bay was sent off at just 2/1 to go a place better this afternoon.

Settled behind the leaders by Luke Dempsey, the Walk In The Park bay took closer order on the approach to two out and he was soon pushed along in second.

He shot to the front when the leader Teuchters Glory stumbled after the last and he kept on well in the closing stages, coming home two-and-three-parts of a length to the good.

Sent off the 11/10 favourite, Franciscan Rock filled the runner-up spot under Ricky Doyle for Mouse Morris, while the aforementioned Teuchters Glory (11/2) was half-a-length away in third.

"He's a nice horse and he will be a better horse next year as he's still a bit babyish," said Mangan.

"He's a horse with a bright future hopefully. Luke said he needed the two-mile-three and he wouldn't want the ground any quicker.

"He's a big frame of a horse and another summer's grass will do him the world of good.

"He got a few little niggly setbacks (after Wexford), nothing major. To be fair to the firm concerned they believe in giving them time if they get a setback."

STEWARDS REPORTS

At the request of the Raceday Stewards, K.E Buckley, rider of Atacanter trained by Ross O'Sullivan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green early on, could not go the early gallop but finished well and in his opinion the gelding needs a longer trip.

At the request of the Raceday Stewards, B. Hayes, rider of Hunt Museum trained by Francis J. Flood, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green, was one paced and took a blow turning into the straight.

At the request of the Raceday Stewards, M.P. O'Connor, rider of Micheal's Magic trained by Liam G O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green, was charging at his hurdles and blew up at the second last hurdle.

At the request of the Raceday Stewards, R. Deegan, rider of Workforadime trained by C.Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount got a fright at the first hurdle and took a while to recover from this.
