Make Haste looked a very useful filly when successfully getting off the mark at the first time of asking in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Naas.
For Curragh-based handler Diego Dias, the daughter of Blue Point, equipped with a tongue-strap, took a walk in the market on track from 15/8 out to 16/5.
The favourite, Tommy McJohn (13/8) was strong in the betting, but he had no answer to the Gavin Ryan-ridden victor in the final furlong, and three and a quarter lengths was the winning margin.
“She is a quick filly and I was very impressed with her today," said Dias.
“We thought a lot of her at home. He said they could only take her to the three-furlong pole and after that he just had to let her go.
“We didn’t run her in the Curragh last week because of the soft ground and we thought she’d be better on this ground.
“We like to think she is a Queen Mary filly. We’ll talk to the owners and see if she will run again before that.”
