The Dermot Weld-trained Luxuriant looks a filly with a bright future after making a winning debut in the nine-furlong maiden at Leopardstown tonight.
The daughter of Kingman went off the 11/4 joint-favourite having proven solid in the market.
Oisin Orr produced his mount to challenge front-runner Invitation at the furlong pole and she got on top in the closing stages to record a length success.
The other market leader Mudlahhim could only finish fifth.
“She did it nicely, did more or less what we expected,” said Weld of the Khalid Abdullah-owned filly.
“Oisin gave her a nice ride. I think there is nice improvement in her and hopefully she can develop in to a stakes filly.
“That trip is about right. She came there going very easy and saw it out nicely. She could probably come back to a mile or go another furlong but that's around about right.
“We'll look at either a winners race or a Listed race with her. She's a big big filly and I'm in no hurry with her. She's a filly that will even make a lovely four-year-old.”
