Tai Sing Yeh claimed the second division of the Coast To Currragh Cycle in Memory Of Pat Smullen Handicap at Roscommon to give trainer Johnny Levins a welcome winner.

It was a first success of the season for the Curragh handler who last saddled a winner when Whirling Dervish won over hurdles at Thurles in March.

Donagh O'Connor did the steering on 16/1 shot Tai Sing Yeh and soon had him disputing from his wide draw.

The seven-year-old led them turning for home in the seven-furlong contest and held the challenge of 11/10 favourite Jazz Dreamers in the closing stages to record a half length success.

O’Connor said:- “The first half of the year he wasn’t really travelling in his races. He wasn’t travelling with the enthusiasm of previous years but his last couple of races he’s come back to form.

“He jumped really well from the gates and was keen all the way but we went steady enough. He quickened up and put his head down all the way to the line. I can’t fault him and that will do his confidence the world of good.

“He did another circuit of the track afterwards so he obviously didn’t go too quick!”
