Johnny Levins and Donagh O’Connor maintained their impressive record at Naas since the resumption of racing last month as Eleuthera justified favouritism in the Naas Apprentice Handicap.
The pair have now successfully teamed up at all four Naas meetings since racing returned at this venue on June 8 with Nordic Passage, Prisoner’s Dilemma and Dark Magic having also scored at the Co. Kildare track in recent weeks.
Eleuthera got a nice run up the far rail to lead over a furlong out, and was driven out to hold off outsider Lizbuncon by three quarters of a length.
Teddy Boy was a further two and a quarter lengths away in third.
Levins said, “He got a lovely clever ride from Donagh and did it well in the end. The next meeting here is in three weeks so I have half the yard penciled in to run!
“This lad is in again tomorrow (third reserve at Cork) but I doubt if he’ll run. He’s in again next week (at Navan) and we’ll see how he comes out of it. He’s an older horse, is hardy and taking his racing.
“He’d have to pass all his tests in the morning to consider running (at Cork).”
