The Kone Handicap saw 7/4 favourite Teed Up maintain his admirable consistency when getting home by a neck from the fast-finishing We’ll Go Again (33/1). Khafaaq (33/1) was a further half a length back in third.

The Ken Condon-trained winner was pushed along behind the leaders racing into the dip but got a nice split rounding the home turn to lead inside the furlong marker. Favourite backers would have been happy at that point but the runner-up fairly rattled home from the rear to give them a fright before they could collect.

That’s now three wins (including two at Galway) and three seconds for the Gleneagles gelding since he began his career in July.

For winning rider Billy Lee, it was a winner on his first ride back after serving an eight-day suspension for careless riding aboard Condon’s Thunder Beauty in ParisLongchamp on Arc day.

“He’s a horse on the up,” said Lee.

“He was on and off it there, but I’d put that down to the ground. He kept finding for pressure.

“In the end I was able to put my stick down and he was nearly pulling up with me and won cosily.”
