Koybig stepped up on his promising placed effort at Tipperary when landing the mile handicap at Dundalk by half a length for Ken Condon.

The 7/2 favourite kept on for third in Tipperary when short of room coming to the final furlong. It was a different story this evening as he powered home in the final furlong under Shane Foley, despite drifting significantly right in the latter stages. Octavia at 11/1 was beaten into second place. She was a length in front of recent Dundalk winner Baby Dinnis (13/2).

Trainer Ken Condon said: "The lads (Terry Whyte and Patrick White) are getting great enjoyment from him. He's a big horse and has been slow in maturing. He had two runs last year and was a bit green in a handicap last time. Shane had to be very strong on him."

This brought up a Dundalk double for jockey Shane Foley who took the preceding race on Tailteann Games (10/1).

On Newsletter, who was successful in a listed contest at Nottingham last weekend, Condon commented: "She has come home super. She'll go for the Ballyogan Stakes and then Ascot where she is in the Commonwealth Cup.

"The ease in ground and six furlongs (at Nottingham) were perfect for her. She has the talent but she had to go and do it. I thought she ran very well in Bath the race before that as well."
