The finish of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden was fought out by two debutants and it was easy-to-back 33/1 chance Casheldale Lad who got up in the final strides to touch off 4/1 joint-favourite Vera's Secret

The winner, nibbled at this morning but friendless before the off, soon raced in mid-division and was ridden in fifth with what seemed plenty to do on the home turn.

Vera's Secret had led from the start and went clear early in the straight but ran green and was collared by the Raven's Pass-sired winner in the final strides. A neck was the winning margin for Robbie Colgan's mount.

It was another winner for in-form local handler Andrew Kinirons who said: “We think a lot of him and Sean (Murphy, part-owner with his cousin Gary) bred him and lives just across the road in Ballymore.

“We had him last year but he’s big and kept growing. We left him a bit short of work as he’s a lot of natural ability and he’s a horse with a big future.

“He’s Flat bred but has jumped a hurdle and could be anything. Robbie rode him in a gallop a few weeks ago and loved him.

“We said we’d come local here. It’s actually three years ago at this meeting when I trained my first winner. It’s been a very lucky track as I rode my first winner here and also had my first winner as an owner here. They should have more meetings here!”
