Kidd off the mark with Raheenwood
The second division of the Harvest Festival Handicap Hurdle produced a thrilling finish with Raheenwood getting his head in front on the line. Clan Music had led them over the last but was just denied in the closing stages as Paul Townend got a good tune from the winner. Irish Soul was just half a length back in third.
It was a first success for trainer Colin Kidd, who took over the licence from his father Tom 18 months ago.
The Bagenalstown-based handler said:- "I worked with my father for years and then took over the licence 18 months ago.
"I haven't had too many runners but this is my first winner. He'll be kept on the go over the summer.
"Paul said two-and-a-half is his minimum trip and he likes the good ground. He could develop into a Galway horse."
