Colin Keane moved on to 105 for the season when teaming up with Ger Lyons again to partner Cornman to a cosy front-running success in the opener at Gowran Park.
The 5/2 favourite was soon in front, from his low draw, in the seven-furlong maiden and he kept on strongly when asked for an effort two furlongs from home.
Purple Dawn kept on well inside the final furlong but never looked like pegging back the winner, who recorded a length-and-a-quarter success.
Cornman had shaped with promise when fourth on his debut at Roscommon 16 days ago and assistant Shane Lyons said:-
“It’s nice to get a winner for Teme Valley who have a couple of horses with us this year.
“This horse was always going to improve from his first run and Colin said he’ll improve again which is a big bonus. He was always going to be a three-year-old.
“He’ll get a mile no problem and is a horse to look forward to. He did everything right and ran right through to the line.
“Winners races are few and far between which is not a good thing but that’s the obvious route we’ll go. There won’t be any rush with him as he’s a nice big-framed horse.
“He’s after getting a 15 thousand pounds Craven Breeze Up Bonus as well for that win.”
