Jumping makes the difference for Days

Jumping won the day for Days Hotel as he claimed the paddypower.com Chase at Naas this afternoon.

Andrew Lynch made all on the 5/4 favourite (from 11/8) in the Grade 2 event over two miles.

Market rival Call The Police (11/8) tracked the front-runner throughout but came off the bridle turning for home and was soon a spent force. Realt Dubh emerged as the danger at the second last and soon had Days Hotel hard at work.

Paul Carberry's mount appeared to be travelling best but blundered when upsides at the last and it left Days Hotel in control on the run-in. He stayed on well to post a six-length verdict.

“Carberry always seems to be going well,” quipped de Bromhead when it was suggested he might have been a lucky winner.

“His jumping won it for him and he had to do it the hard way. He set a good gallop and jumped well all the way.

“I'm delighted for the owner (James Treacy) as he's been great since he came back from injury. That's two Grade 2s he's won now and he keeps improving.

“The Normans Grove at Fairyhouse (April 2nd) is probably the obvious one now especially if he gets some ease in the ground.

“The Kinloch Brae at Thurles was too far on heavy ground but I wouldn't mind stepping him up in trip again on better ground.”
