In-form trainer Jessica Harrington saddled another winner as the ever consistent Jenari took the Grade 2 novice hurdle at Fairyhouse.
The five-year-old son of Milan had never been out of the first three in his eight races before today, and he picked up a nice pot of 26,000 to give jockey Tony McCoy a double on the day and his eighth winner in Ireland this term.
Jenari (11/4 favourite) moved into the lead after two out and quickened away from the last to win by three and three parts of a length from Bridgets Pet who stayed on well for second at 10/1.
It was a further three parts of a length back to top weight Lyreen Legend in third at 9/2.
"This horse did it well to win. They were slowing up and he was being pushed wide. Jessie said he would stay well,” Tony McCoy said.
Jessica Harrington was delighted with her charge’s performance and said: “He had a good run in a handicap last time [third to Steel Park at Leopardstown on 4th March].
“He was crying out for two and a half miles on good ground. I suppose we will head to Punchestown now. He’s a genuine two and a half miler. He’s very consistent and a pleasure to train.”
