Inxile never headed
English raiders dominated the finish of the listed Galtee Midsummer Sprint Stakes over five furlongs at Cork as even money favourite Inxile made every post a winning one to win from Liberty Lady
Dandy Nicholls, trainer of Inxile, said: “He’ll have next weekend off and go to the Curragh for the Group 3 Sapphire Stakes on Derby day.
“Then he’ll go for the Nunthorpe Stakes and the Prix de l’Abbaye.
“He’s a tough horse and we decided to give Ascot a skip and we have got two wins as a result of that.
“Adrian [Nicholls] gave him a great ride as he can be bloody keen but he locked him away in front.
“He only has two speeds; zero and flat out! He also has to be led down early.
“The time of 58.64 seconds was a good time on rain-softened ground.”
Liberty Lady, trained by Des Donovan, was beaten three parts of a length in second at 16/1 while Oor Jock from the Tracey Collins yard was best of the home brigade in third at 33/1.
Hard luck story of the race proved to be Tiddliwinks Philip Makin lost an iron as he was getting into the drive position a furlong out.
