Indian Landing bounced back to form when make his first start on the all-weather at Dundalk a winning one in the opener tonight.
Tracey Collins' charge had slipped a few pounds in the handicap after some uninspiring efforts last summer and had been dropped a further 10lb since his last appearance at the Curragh last October.
He attracted support this morning from 14/1 into 6/1 and was returned a 7/1 shot on course.
Pat Smullen settled his mount behind the leaders in the seven-furlong contest before angling out at the two furlong pole.
The Barathea gelding hit the front at the furlong pole and stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length victory.
4/1 favourite Black N Brew came through to be best of the rest.
“I'm delighted with that. He's handled the surface which I didn't think he would,” said Collins.
“It opens another door for him as all his good runs before have been on heavy ground and I really didn't think he'd handle it here.”
