Well-supported Inchiquin Maid (11/2 — 7/2) got off the mark on her first start for new connections at Dundalk this evening, landing the William Hill Top Price Guarantee Handicap under jockey Robert Whearty.

Placed on each of her previous two starts, including at today’s course in December, the five-year-old today stepped up to two miles on the Flat for the first time and having raced prominently, quickened clear in the final furlong to win by five lengths from Mephisto

Winning trainer Chris Timmons reported "that was a good start and Rob (Whearty) thought she won snugly enough.

"We don't have her long to be honest and just looking back through her form, I thought she might appreciate a step up in trip as she seemed to stay going quite well. This race came up and it was a risk, but thankfully it paid off.

"There's a hurdle race there on New Year's Day in Fairyhouse, so we will see how she comes out of today. I’m delighted for the (Stitched Pockets) syndicate and they should have a bit of fun with her going forward."
