Ian Power rode his first winner since resuming race-riding last year when Jacksons Gold (33/1) took the Dysart Maiden Hurdle for Dungarvan trainer Alice Curran.
Someone had a few Euros on at big prices this morning, with 200/1 available in places. Broomfields Jeremy made the running and was about a length up and still going okay when falling two out.
The winner, a Gold Well gelding making his debut at the age of six, took over from that point to beat fellow 33/1 chance Flemings Dream by three and a quarter lengths. Pretty Fantasy was third, while 10/3 joint favourites Fox Fearless and Seanbhothar finished sixth and ninth respectively.
Ian Power's last winner before retiring from riding for several years was Misty Weather at Wexford in June 2012.
With the winning trainer on lead-up duty, the winning rider Power said: “I’d be always helping them out (the Currans) doing bits and bobs.
“I’ve got the licence back now and that’s my first winner for a good while.
“We knew he’d run well. We thought he might have just needed the run a bit but he’s a nice horse.”
