Starting Monday held up proceedings by eight minutes before dishing out a beating to 19 rivals at the Curragh today as the 'hyper individual' won the WhatOddsPaddy Handicap for trainer Gillian Scott and her brother jockey Bill Lee.
The son of Raven's Pass won a Galway maiden when last seen last October and today, evidently fresh and well, had to be led to post by Lee with the race starting eight minute late.
Following Starting Monday's two and a quarter lengths win, Co Limerick based Scott quipped “I'd say Billy was cursing me on the way down as he's a hyper individual!”
She added “I'm absolutely thrilled. He stuck it out and I'm delighted for the horse because he's a real tough little man and he loves that ground.
“I'm so happy for everyone (Starting Monday Syndicate) that has stuck with him. They had him leased last year and bought him after that.
“There are a few more members now, my father-in-law and a few brothers-in-law, and I think they backed him today as well.
“We'll see what way he comes out of this and then see what is next for him.”
