Homesman justified favourtism in the concluding maiden at Limerick this afternoon but had to survive a stewards enquiry in the process.

The Ballydoyle colt was always to the fore under Ana O'Brien, and was soon a narrow leader as Buffalo Blues pressed.

The War Front colt was asked to quicken passing the two pole but veered left off the rail over a furlong out, hampering Buffalo Blues and and the improving Modern Approach

11/8 favourite Homesman kept on to assert inside the final furlong and was eased down as Modern Approach ran on again late on to get within a neck at the line.

The winner had been fourth on his return to action at Navan last Monday.

"I'm delighted with him and he's a big green horse. He's a massive horse and I think he'll progress with racing," said the winning trainer.

It was an across the card double on the day for Aidan O'Brien with Somehow taking the feature event at Gowran earlier in the day.
