Trainer Tom Hogan has high hopes for Aim For Glory following the gelding's first win in the Limerick On Twitter (C&G) Maiden Hurdle at Limerick today.

Ridden by Donagh Meyler, the son of Pour Moi was getting the measure of Key Commander when that rival crashed out spectacularly at the final flight and on the run-in Aim For Glory kept on for a nine and a half lengths win over Carnet De Stage

Hogan later reported “I won't rush him but we might find a winners' race now and we'll see what happens after that - I gave him a good name anyway!”

He added “he is a very nice horse and is still very green and is still learning his trade.

“I'm delighted for Terry (O'Reilly) as it is the first horse he has ever owned. He is based in Boston and flew over for the race. He flew over to Gowran the last day when I thought he'd win but he was a little bit unlucky. It didn't happen but he has got his result today.

“He is a beautiful jumper and it was unfortunate at Gowran, when he just caught the top of the hurdle.

“He goes on that and on good ground and he'll stay further today. I'm delighted to have a nice horse and he hopefully he can win a couple of more and can win on the flat as well.”
