Gordon Elliott’s High Net Worth snapped a run of second-place finishes on the flat when emphatically winning the extended mile and a quarter maiden in Dundalk.
The four-year-old was swinging away on the bridle with a furlong to race as he got on terms with Castle Of Argh Emmet McNamara sent him on to win the race and the pair scooted up by three lengths.
David Harry Kelly’s The Visitor made late gains for second on his first racecourse appearance. His SP was 20/1. Castle Of Argh, the gamble of the race from 6s this morning and 4/1 on opening show down to 5/2, dropped two lengths further back to third.
Emmet McNamara said of the 7/4 favourite: “It’s probably a poor maiden, but he did it well. We were forcing him over seven furlongs and he didn’t like it.
“He was much better over the mile and a quarter. He travelled much better. He’s a horse that likes to travel well and do things easy.”
High Net Worth had fallen in a maiden hurdle in Cork last month, but prior to that had been second four times in-a-row in flat races.
