Killian Hennessy has made the most of the opportunities afforded to him by Aidan O’Brien in recent weeks and the pair successfully teamed up again with The Caribbean in the Kilminfoyle House Stud Irish EBF Maiden at Fairyhouse.

The No Nay Never colt was fitted with blinkers on his third start having filled the runner-up spot here last month and was prominent throughout in this six-furlong event.

The 100/30 chance led inside the final quarter mile and kept on well to beat Innate by half-a-length with Vespertilio a further two and a quarter lengths back in third.

Hennessy, who won the BoyleSports Ulster Derby on Tower Of London and also partnered Henry Adams to a debut success at Naas last Saturday, said: “I’m lucky the opportunities are there at the moment - Seamie is suspended and unfortunately Wayne is out injured. It’s nice to be on good horses.

“We went a strong gallop which suited and he travelled well. He kept finding all the way to the line and is a grand, genuine horse.”

O’Brien was represented by Chris Armstrong who said, “He’s come forward with every run and the blinkers helped him focus and take the greenness off him.

“We’ll see how he comes out of it. He could run in a nursery or even be one for the Anglesey in ten days’ time. He’s going the right way.”
