Chateau Musar got on top in the closing stages of the first division of the ten furlong handicap at Dundalk to give Chris Hayes a double on the night.
Hayes produced the 3/1 favourite to challenge a furlong from home and he soon fought it out with Blackstone Cliff
The John Geoghegan-trained gelding was in front inside the 100 yards as he recorded a three-parts-of-a-length win.
Chateau Musar had won over course and distance in November and was a close third on his most recent visit last month.
Geoghegan, “He seems to be improving and Chris said he could even be a bit better if we step him up to a mile and a half. He’s a nice fun horse and we’ll have to come back up here for another one.
“The first day he won he was a bit keen with Chris and it was the first day he rode him but now he said he just throws the reins at him and he settles grand.
“When he got the gaps he battled all the way through to the line. I’m delighted with him and we should be able to get into another 45-65.”
