John Murphy told an Irish Field stable tour back in September 2010 that Gossamer Seed was "the most exciting two-year-old filly that we've had for a long time. It would be no surprise to me if she went all the way." Well the now four-year-old daughter of Choisir reached the high-point of her thirteen race life when stylishly landing the Group 3 European Breeders Fund Athasi Stakes at the Curragh.
Shane Foley always had the easy-ground loving, friendless-in-the-market (7s out to 9s) runner to the fore. She led under two furlongs out before being driven clear to beat favourite Bulbul (made a mess of the start) by four and three parts of a length.
George Murphy, representing his Father, John, said: "Dad is gone to a camogie match to see my sister Sophie in action.
"This filly will probably go for another stakes race in a month and then she'll likely get a break.
"We'll try to make the most of any opportunities for her on soft ground." (TW & EM)
