Gillian Scott, a sister of top Flat jockey Billy Lee, trained her first winner in her married name when An Fearchan won the Finbarr Quaid Electrical Maiden Hurdle at Cork.
Scott sent out winners in the past before a stint in Australia when she got married, and here the Limerick handler entrusted fellow Treaty County native Mark Enright with the spin on An Fearchan.
On his first day back since the Irish National where he broke two bones in his shoulder, Enright wasn’t found wanting on the 16/1 victor.
As was the case in the previous race, Charles Byrnes went mighty close to saddling another winner here, but Sky Marshal lost out by a head to An Fearchan. Exit Eleven was just half a length back in third.
"That's my first winner since I came home from Australia and also my first winner in the new name so I'm delighted! I'm home a year and a half now and decided to take out my license again when he came along," said Gillian Scott.
"I was in Brisbane on Eagle Farm and I loved it there but it was time to come home.
"Mark gave him an exceptional ride, he know him and knows he is tough but has his quirks.
"I have him, two other point to pointers and two two-year-olds and that's it but I'd take what I could!
"I'm delighted for my mother (owner Edwina Finn) - since Dad passed it's been hard as he was her rock."
The Stewards interviewed A. McCurtin, rider of Exit Eleven, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that A. McCurtin was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended A. McCurtin for 1 raceday.
A. McCurtin, rider of Exit Eleven trained by Ms. Debbie Hartnett, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left throughout this race.
P. Townend, rider of Savina trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not jump throughout this race.
Ms.M.Flynn, trainer of Jimmys Delight reported to the Clerk of Scales that her charge appears to be nongenuine.
