Gamigin delivered in the opening claimer over an extended mile and a half at Sligo for James McAuley and Shane Foley.

The four-year-old gelding raced in fourth as Majestic Jewel made most.

The leader was strongly pressed by both Quiet Desire and Super Proud three furlongs out.

All three held claims straightening for home but it was Gamigin who caught the eye switched to the outer.

He moved through to head a boxing on Majestic Jewel inside the final furlong and was soon ridden to move clear in the closing stages. The 7/4 shot beat the well backed 11/10 favourite by three lengths.

Foley said: “It’s nice for one of those horses to come back and win [winner was one of the horses that got loose on the road recently]. Obviously it wasn’t nice scenes that time, it was just one of those things.

“He was loving it, the more I was taking him back, even from the three (furlong marker) to the two I was sitting and sitting, the more I was filling him up, the more he wanted to go.

“He’s won well and it’s good for the lads, their horses are coming good now and they’ve been good to me.”

Gamigin was claimed for €10,000 by Noel Kelly.
