After a bad mistake at the last Fourth Class and Andrew Lynch did well to fight back and fend off Prosperity Square by a diminishing short head at Kilbeggan in the three mile one handicap chase.
He moved strongly into the lead after jumping the third last but opened the door at the last to Prosperity Square and Ben Dalton who stayed on relentlessly, but just failed.
It was four and a half lengths back to Thelobstercatcher in third at 14/1. Ballygill Gale #8217;s momentum was checked with a blunder at the second last. He came in fourth.
“That was super, I’m delighted. In fairness John Bermingham and Billy Cotter the owners picked the race for him. Andrew gave him a super ride,” Henry de Bromhead said.
“He seems to jump well and the cheekpieces woke him up a bit. He was very game. He’s tough and a hardy fellow. He jumped great apart from a mistake at the last.” Tales Of Milan the 11/4 favourite for Dessie Hughes and Barry Geraghty, was pulled up before the sixth. Geraghty reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Tales Of Milan at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post-race normal.
