A three parts sister to the world record breaking Group/Grade 1 winning Hurricane Fly, Blixt today made a winning jumps debut in the Tullyraine Veterinary Clinic Mares Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick.
As had been the case when she was beaten in four bumpers, Patrick Mullins was again aboard as the five-year-old began for the Blue Blood Racing Club.
Well-backed favourite and pace-setter Delayed Eloquence fought off Field Robin from the last, but the eye was soon drawn to the outside and the staying on Willie Mullins runner.
Blixt saw out the near two miles three furlongs that well that she was eventually going away at the finish for a one length victory.
Patrick Mullins said: "As a half sister to Hurricane Fly we thought jumping might improve her.
"The boys in Blue Blood Racing Club have only taken her over two weeks ago. The other lads that owned her moved to a different horse and I just recommended her to Blue Blood.
"She got proper good ground today for the first time and she jumped fantastic for a horse having her first run over hurdles. She could improve going further - two and a half to three miles with a light weight on her back in a handicap. It's probably the last time I will ride her!"
