Jack Kennedy rode his second Flat winner, both of which have come aboard Pat Flynn-trained horses, when Waydownsouth benefited from the Kerry rider's 7Ib claim, off his top-weight impost, in the Book Your Hen Or Stag Party At Fairyhouse Handicap.
Of course pony racing champion Kennedy already has three winners in the bag over flights, for his boss, Gordon Elliott, and his followers are certainly doing well. The other scorer for Flynn was 33/1 chance Funny How, whilst Waydownsouth was returned 'a ten.'
After the eight-year-old Chevalier gelding had come home a length and a quarter and half a length to the good from well-fancied pair, Brightly Shining and My Twinkle Kennedy said: "Pat told me to try and sit fifth or sixth and that he'd hit a flat spot but that he'd keep galloping.
"He was spot on, and the horse is very honest and genuine. He stuck his head out and galloped to the line.
"I'll try to stay riding on the flat as long as I can but I'll definitely be riding over jumps in the future."
