Fit The Cove wins thriller
Fit The Cove won his second handicap of the week at Galway when coming out on top in a thrilling three-way finish to the Connaught Tribune Centenary Handicap.
Fit The Cove, in front from the outset, was strongly pressed inside the final furlong by both Ask Jack and Maundy Money and as the trio flashed past the post is was virtually impossible to split them with the naked eye.
Maundy Money can be condisered somewhat unlucky as he was struck in the head by a whip inside the final furlong.
Winning trainer Harry Rogers said: "I was relieved to hear the verdict called in my favour. He deserves a rest after this."
Rogers paid great tribute to winning owner Brendan Smith from Newry in Co. Down. "He is a very patient man and never complained when this horse was out of form. He is a fantastic owner."
