Mr Fiftyone powered clear in the closing stages to make a winning debut over hurdles at Fairyhouse.

Jessica Harrington’s charge was maintaining a perfect start to his career having landed a Gowran Park bumper on his debut last month.

Noble Call soon opened up a commanding lead in the two-mile contest but came back to the field three from home.

Mr Fiftyone jumped into the lead at the second last after travelling well into contention under Robbie Power.

He looked set for a battle as Giantofaman closed at the final hurdle but the runner-up again looked a difficult ride.

He backed off his rival on the run-in and proved reluctant as 13/8 favourite Mr Fiftyone maintained his gallop to record a 10-length success.

“He’s only a four-year-old and is going to improve. He’s a chaser really,” said Harrington.

“He’s in again on Saturday (Grade 3 Fishery Lane Hurdle - Naas) and I’d like to get another run into him before the Royal Bond just to give him some practice.

“It’s just an idea at the moment and we’ll see whether he runs at the weekend or not. He didn’t have too hard a race there.”
