Sabrina Fairchild got off the mark at the fourth attempt at Dundalk this evening as the Sarah Lynam trained filly landed the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Maiden under jockey Danny Sheehy.
The daughter of Elnadim had finished second at the Co Louth venue on her previous outing on October 31 and today went a placing better when beating runner-up Al Batal by a length and a quarter.
The win was rookie trainer Lynam's fourth individual winner from just eight runners, and she later said “that's brilliant because it's Rishi Sooknanan's first winner in his colours; he's from Trinidad and I think he's watching on telly.
“I told him she was really good and she was going well at home so I'm delighted and he'll get a good buzz out of that.
“She only had one blip at Navan and we put the tongue-strap on. I think she just gets a bit buzzy and it calmed her down a little bit. She raced quite sensibly tonight and she was very good.
“I was a bit scared by the Stack horse (Modern Love, finished fourth) tonight but I thought I'd take a chance and she deserved to win a maiden.”
