Fahey and Sexton's confidence in Iamagetaway well justified

With a first-time tongue-strap deployed Iamagetaway stylishly landed the Great National South Court Hotel Maiden Hurdle at Limerick for trainer James Fahey and jockey Kevin Sexton.

In the familiar Frank Reynolds colours Sexton was noted sitting pretty on the 100/30 victor from some way out. The chestnut didn't disappoint when putting his stamp on proceedings in the closing stages, beating favourite Nells Choice by four and a quarter lengths. Spinola Bay finished off well for third, five and a half lengths back.

"He is a smashing horse and his work at home had been very good so I would have been disappointed if he didn't collect. He had been keeping good company in his bumpers and while we were a little disappointed coming home out of Wexford and had our tail between our legs, that form has worked out well," said Fahey.

"We were clutching at straws by putting on a tongue-tie as there is no issue in that regard but it won't be coming off the next day. I'd say 2m4f is his trip and we'll pick and chose where we go, so hopefully he can win again."

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the start of this race where it appeared a number of horses got tight and were slow to jump off. Evidence was heard from Mr.T.V. O' Connell IHRB Starter who stated that it was very tight for all eighteen runners to get in line which caused a few horses to get tight for room jumping off, he further added he was satisfied a fair start had been effected. Having considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
