Pineapple Express notched her fourth win of the season when running out a game winner of the fillies handicap at the Curragh.
The Andy Slattery-trained filly had been slightly unlucky on her last outing, when finishing fifth at Galway.
She was produced to challenge a furlong out today, by the trainer's son and namesake, and got to the front in the closing stages of the final furlong. Pachmena finished off well in the mile-and-a-half contest but could only get within half a length of the 16/1 winner.
“Juice in the ground, that's the secret to her. I can't say I was happy with the handicapper putting her up 30lb but it turns out he was right,” said Slattery senior.
“She's a different mare on this ground. We were going to go on Champions Weekend but when the rain came we said we'd come today.
“We'll see what the handicapper does now, whether we are going for another handicap or maybe try a little listed race somewhere.
“The listed race in Galway (Oyster Stakes on September 7th) might be the ideal race on soft ground.
“She ran a great race in Galway last time when the ground beat her.”
