Sixteen year old jockey Jack Kennedy completed a stunning treble for his retained trainer Gordon Elliott on Navan's feature fixture today, adding Prince Of Scars win in the Grade C Proudstown Handicap Hurdle to their earlier Troytown Chase glory.
Kennedy is rapidly ticking off his 'firsts' list and having steered his first chase winner on Troytown Chase winner Riverside City earlier, on Thursday steered his first win for Prince Of Scars' owner Michael O'Leary (Gigginstown House Stud).
Today Prince Of Scars, under a very high head carriage, rallied well for Kennedy to edge a photo-finish nose and short head win over Russian Bill and Roll It Out
Kennedy was recording his first treble and following the race Elliott, who supplied the ammunition, stated "Jack gave him a great ride; he's only a young lad of 16 but he was very good there.
"The horses are running well, and it's been a great day. The big galloping track suited him, and at Clonmel the last day he was all over the place."
Kennedy added "that's my first treble. I've had them before in pony racing but this is a totally different level. This horse carries his head a bit high but he doesn't stop trying."
