Effernock Lad and Flemenstorm shared the spoils in the Round O Pub & Restaurant Handicap Chase, as the well-backed favourite Coolaghknock Glebe had to settle for third.

The aforementioned three jumped the last together and battled it out all the way to the line, with the judge unable to separate Effernock Lad and Flemenstorm.

Effernock Lad, who was in front throughout, was recording his third win of the season, and he was returned at 11/2 (from 9/2) with Mark Flanagan in the saddle for Ger Keane.

Flemenstorm on the other hand was having his first run of the season, and he was a 12/1 chance with Sean Flanagan aboard for Eddie Cawley.

The favourite Coolaghknock Glebe, who was 6/1 last night, was backed from 15/8 to 6/5 on-course. He had every chance from the last but ultimately had to settle for third, another three parts of a length back under Mark Walsh for Christy Roche.

Ger Keane said afterwards: "He's a grand horse, and has been very consistent. He could go to Punchestown for a similar race on New Year's Eve. He's been on the go for a good while and will have to get a break at some stage."

Eddie Cawley said: "That was a bit unexpected as I thought the trip was too short and it was his first run (of the season). He needs that ground and will go up in trip the next day."

STEWARDS REPORT

The Stewards received a report from W. Fleming , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that S.W. Flanagan , rider of High Expectations (FR) , weighed in at 1.8 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he was riding at his lightest possible weight but had a drink of water after weighing out. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that S.W. Flanagan was in breach of Rule 231 and they therefore suspended him for 1 raceday.
