Seamie Heffernan was seen to good effect when completing a 38/1 double aboard Eastern Tornado in division one of the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.

The mile and a half event proved a highly competitive affair with a line of horses across the track inside the final furlong and Eastern Tornado just proved the stronger in the closing stages on the far side.

The Michael Hourigan junior-trained gelding has been frustrating to follow but finally opened his account here at odds of 11/1 by a head. Pro Bono was just denied towards the stands’ side with the front-running Chutzpal rallying again inside the final furlong to be just a short-head further back in third.

Heffernan, who was also on the mark earlier with Catherine Of Siena (9/4), said "He's a horse that Michael thought a bit of and he ran some lovely races without winning.

"Hopefully, he is stronger this year and he wins a few races for them.

"He's down to a fairly low mark and I ran home the last furlong. It's great to get another winner."
