On what was her debut over flights, Jakes Dream (12/1) took the opener at Wexford this afternoon, the Three Rocks Mares Maiden Hurdle.

Trained by Mick Winters, who was also on the mark at Listowel on Sunday, the seven-year-old was a good fourth at Cork in March but disappointed on her most recent outing at Downpatrick.

Settled in mid-division by Richie Condon, the Flemensfirth bay was far from fluent at the first and took closer order before the fourth last flight.

Again not fluent at the next, she was ridden in third early in the straight but came through to lead before the last, keeping on well from there to score by two-and-three-parts of a length. Trendy Lady (4/11f) had no excuses in second, with Derek McGrath aboard this Henry de Bromhead trained six-year-old. Uppertown Mya (10/1 from 28s early) was another six-and-a-half lengths back in third.

"She had a lot of small issues and we’ve just found it hard to keep her 100 percent. She looked a bit green early on and jumped a bit big but after that we were happy,” Winters said.

"I did a Cheltenham preview with Richie Condon down in Askeaton and he said I’d have to give him a winner at some stage, so he got it now!"

"She is a Flemensfirth and I think they are all stayers. A great syndicate own her (the Oakroom Racing Club) and the young lady who led her up (Abbie Fitzgibbon) had a great winner at Listowel on Sunday."
