Draycott Place opened his account over fences when putting in a fine round of jumping to take the Charleville Cheese Beginners Chase at Limerick.
Ryan Treacy 's mount was pressed by fellow 5/4 joint favourite Lord Adare in the straight but a couple of great leaps at the final two fences sealed the issue.
The John Ryan-trained gelding kept on well to beat that rival by three lengths, with Stonehall Jack a further four and a half lengths adrift in third.
Ryan said, "He hated the ground today. He wants good ground but is a smashing horse. I probably overfaced him a bit against some really good horses but he's very talented.
"He's some leaper, and he'll go for a good novice handicap at the likes of Fairyhouse, Aintree or Punchestown. He'll get a break somewhere along the line and he'll go to Galway."
