Lowly rated Miss McIlroy gained a long overdue win when landing the Follow Us On Instagram (Mares) Handicap Hurdle at Cork today to complete a double on the day for jockey Kevin Brouder.

The Gerry Lynch trained daughter of Fracas had previously failed to win in 33 starts, 24 of which were when racing from the basement hurdles rating of 80, but today came good when arriving with a well timed challenge to eventually beat Cailean's Angel by three parts of a length.

Co Galway based trainer Lynch later stated "when she gets crowded out of it she throws in the towel but she always run well here and I said to Kevin to ride her on the outside and what a ride he gave her.

"She has been unlucky here a few times and I had a horse finish second at Naas earlier today as well. My horses are running well, I have 10 riding out for the summer and have five more to come in."

Jockey Brouder had steered the Charles Byrnes trained Sky Marshall to win the half-hour earlier maiden hurdle.
