Discordantly put in a good round of jumping to land the odds in the Irish Machinery Auctions Beginners Chase at Gowran Park.
The Jessica Harrington-trained gelding had been let down by some expensive errors over fences in the past including when falling in front after halfway at Leopardstown earlier this week.
However, the 4/6 favourite got his act together in this 2m4f event and shrugged off the challenge of Montagne d’Argent from two out.
The six-year-old gelding kept on strongly on the run-in under Robbie Power to beat that rival by six and a half lengths, with Mount Hanover keeping on one paced a further five and a half lengths behind in third.
Flawless Escape appeared the chief threat on paper but jumped poorly and was pulled up soon after halfway.
Harrington said, “He deserved it. He fell last week and I took a chance running him back so quick but I just thought I'd get it out of the way as it was a good chance for him,” said Harrington.
“Robert said he can just be a little bit clumsy at times but he was very good there. He made him go pop, pop, pop today which was great.
“That should do his confidence good and we'll try and find a little winners of one now and then hopefully end up in Punchestown.”
