Just a head separated the field for Dundalk's Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap today as both Beautiful Dawn and Rebelsontherun dead-heated in the three-runner race, finishing narrowly ahead of last-placed Blue Soul
Blue Soul led in the early stages but was joined and strongly pressed by Beautiful Dawn early in the home straight. Rebelsontherun appeared outpaced but finished fastest to join narrow leader Beautiful Dawn at the line.
Early leader Blue Soul provided the handicapper with a neat result, by finishing just a head behind the winners.
Beautiful Dawn's jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle had won the earlier maiden on outright winner Andalusian Star and following his, and trainer Joseph O'Brien's double, remarked “she picked up nicely and while I felt like we put the race to bed, the boys were always breathing down my throat.
"It was a close call at the line and I'm delighted we got our head in front again - obviously sharing the spoils with Jamie."
"I got rolling plenty early and my filly stays very well and is tough.
The other joint-winner Rebelsontherun was collecting for trainer Michael O'Callaghan and jockey Jamie Powell, who reported “it probably suited my lad the way the race unfolded. I was able to get rolling early, he took a bit of time to get into gear but, to be fair, passing the furlong pole he was in top gear and he hit the line well."
